Irish Short Circuit Championship @ Kirkistown 7th June 2014

Today didn’t turn out how we’d hoped at Kirkistown unfortunately, with the weather once again turning against us. From 7am this morning it was relentless causing severe standing water throughout the circuit. So much in fact that even trying to clear the water was impossible as we had nowhere to clear it to. The grass surrounding the track was waterlogged resulting in the water flowing straight back onto the track.
Weather reports at around 9.30am gave it to clear by approx 11am giving us a window of several hours when I’d hoped to get practice & racing underway.
Unfortunately by 10.15am the forecast had changed and we faced the inevitable and at 10.30am I made the decision in consultation with the Stewards of the meeting to cancel the event.
This was very disappointing, not only for the Club but also the riders, many of which traveled quite a distance, from the far south of Ireland, from England & Scotland.
I’d like to thank everyone who supported the Club today, the riders, Marshals, First Aid, Doctors, timekeepers, Officials and all the volunteers who help make these events happen.
As we always do, the Club will endeavor to rerun todays event at a later date which in the meantime is arranged for 6th September 2014. If there is any change to this we will let all the riders who entered today know as soon as possible.

Thanks Again
