After a run out on the bike today, it gave me time to clear my head and to reflect on yesterday’s event and our first Motorcycle Short Circuit race event in 2020.
I would like to say a massive thank you to a large number of people, in no particular order – the 500 Club at Kirkistown Race Circuit; the trackside marshals who dealt with all incidents with such efficiency and professionalism; our flag marshals for keeping most races going while dealing with incidents under yellow flags and showing their expertise and knowledge when red flags were called; to all the scrutineers, timekeepers and race control keeping everything moving throughout the day; all first aid and MCUI (UC) medics displaying yet again how lucky motorcycle racing is to have you working by our side; all representatives from other promoting clubs that offered their help throughout the day; to the stewards of the meeting for their experience and direction and all B&D members who supported me and made this event happen.
I would also like to thank all the competitors and spectators who worked with us and adhered to the restrictions, the day went as well as it did because we all worked together.
To the riders involved in the incidents I wish you all a speedy recovery and hope to see you back in the race paddock next season.
It was good to get back out again and get motorcycle racing wheels back where they belong. I hope you all had a fun and enjoyable day and I would like to wish the Cookstown Club all the best for next weekend. Stay safe and keep the rubber on the tarmac.
Lastly, I would like to thank John McClure for having faith in me and supporting me every step of the way in my role.
